Faithful Hound 2006
Finally found a Bordeaux bled that most wine drinkers can enjoy. Unlike Bordeaux blends that are dry this wine is approachable, and drinks very smooth, even by itself. I mean you can drink this without food. This wine drinks well with Steak and Barbecues. This wine truly has a story behind it and the name is appropriate. All of you out there who join us on “Paws & Wine” every First Friday, this wine was created just for you. To celebrate a faithful dog named “Boes”, a loyal dog that watched over the Mulderbosch farm three years after it’s owner’s death.
This wine has all the signatures of a new world wine, with it’s fruity aromas, and jammy flavors. This wine is a keeper. I enjoyed the wine and I will recommend this wine to anyone who wants to try a new wine. The aroma of licorice made me think it will taste harsher, but I was surprised by the smooth taste, and the smooth lingering sweet finish. I look forward to enjoy this wine again.

This supple Bordeaux blend was created by the legendary Mike Dobrovic as a tribute to Boes (“Bushy” in Afrikaans), the loyal dog who kept watch over Mulderbosch farm for nearly three years after his owner’s death, waiting beneath an oak tree for the return of his beloved master. Enticing aromas of
blackcurrant, mulberry, coffee, and spice lead to intense flavors of ripe plum, blackberry, and licorice enhanced by signature Bordeaux notes of tobacco, forest floor and graphite.
